How to Play Ludo Online with Friends
Ludo is best with people you know. On Ludo Cash Arena you can open your own room, send the link to your friends on WhatsApp and be playing within a minute, whether they are in the next room or the other side of the country. This guide shows you how rooms, invites, friends and groups work.
What you need
- A Ludo Cash Arena account for you and each friend. Sign-up takes a minute with a phone number, email and a password.
- A phone with a browser or the free Android app, and a little data. Ludo uses very little data per game.
- One to three friends, depending on whether you want a 2, 3 or 4-player game.
Create a private room
- Open the lobby and choose Play with Friends.
- Pick the number of seats: 2, 3 or 4, where offered.
- Choose free play with tokens (you can set an optional token stake, or none), or, for adults 18+ when cash rooms are open, a cash entry that everyone pays.
- Create the room. You get a room code like K7Q-4ZP and a link to share.
Invite your friends
The room screen gives you several ways to share:
- WhatsApp: opens WhatsApp with a ready message containing the room code and link. Send it to one friend or a WhatsApp group.
- Copy link: copies the room link, ludocasharena.com/room/ followed by the code, to paste into any app or SMS.
- Share to a group: posts the room into one of your Ludo Cash Arena groups.
- More share options: your phone's own share menu, where available.
- From your Friends list or a friend's profile, you can also start a room and the code is sent to them in a direct message.
How your friends join
- Tap the link you sent. It opens the room in the browser or the app.
- Or open the lobby, choose to join with a code, and type the room code. Capital letters and the dash are optional.
- Sign in or sign up if asked, then join. In a cash room the entry is held when they join, and the app offers a quick top-up if they are short.
- The game starts automatically when every seat is filled.
Not enough friends online?
In a free 3 or 4-seat room, once at least two people have joined, the host can choose to fill the empty seats with bots and pick their difficulty. Bots are always labelled BOT. This is only for free rooms: in a cash room every seat must be a real player, and bots are never allowed.
Cash rooms with friends
Cash rooms are optional and only for adults aged 18 and over. Everyone, including the host, pays the same entry. The pot is the entry times the number of players, the platform fee is taken from the pot, and the winner receives the rest. All of it is shown on the room screen before anyone joins. In games with more than two players, the first to bring all four tokens home takes the prize. Play only with money you can afford to lose, and remember that teaming up against another player, passing chips or deliberately losing is not allowed.
Friends, chat and groups
Friends
Send a friend request from a player's profile, or find people you already know. Friends make it quick to invite each other to rooms and House tables, and you can see when they are online.
Match chat
Every match between real players has a chat with quick phrases like 'Good luck!' and 'Well played', and you can also type your own messages. Keep it friendly. For your safety, do not share phone numbers or links in match chat; attempts to arrange deals off the platform are recorded and reviewed.
Groups
Create a group for your class, office, church youth, estate or boda boda stage. Groups can be public or private, have their own chat and a news feed for posts, and admins can share an invite link or QR code. When you open a room, share it straight into the group so whoever is free can jump in.
Ideas for playing with friends
- Friday night league: the same four friends every week, keep a simple table of wins in your group chat.
- Family Ludo across towns: cousins in Kampala, Mbarara and Lira in one room, with the grandparents watching on one phone.
- Office lunch break: a quick 2-player game between colleagues, with the loser buying the rolex (just for fun).
- School reunion: create a group for your old class and run your own mini tournament with free rooms.
Troubleshooting
- 'Room not found': check the code for typos, or ask the host to send the link again. The room may also have expired after 15 minutes.
- 'Room full': all seats are taken. Ask the host to open a new room with more seats next time.
- My friend cannot join a cash room: they need to be 18+, have a complete profile and enough balance for the entry. The app offers a top-up if they are short.
- Someone dropped mid-game: they have a reconnect window to come back. If they do not return in time, the game counts as forfeited for them and continues or ends by the normal rules.
- The link opens the website instead of the app: that is fine, the room works the same in the browser.
Staying safe and fair
- You can block any player. A block stops messages, friend requests and joining each other's rooms.
- Report abuse or cheating from the match or through Support, or email [email protected].
- Never share your password, login codes or mobile money PIN, even with friends.
- Use the limits in the app if you play cash rooms, and keep it fun.
