Challenge the House Explained: Rules, Payouts, Odds

Challenge the House is the one cash mode where you play against a bot, and we say so openly. You stake UGX against Arena House (Bot), and if you get all four tokens home first, you win a fixed multiple of your stake. Here is exactly how it works, what it pays and why the house keeps a share over time.

What Challenge the House is

Most cash games on Ludo Cash Arena are between real players, and bots are never allowed in them. Challenge the House is different by design: you play against our clearly labelled House bot, named Arena House (Bot). It is always marked as a bot, it uses the same fair dice as everyone, it plays honestly at its published difficulty and it never sees future dice.

It is a real-money mode, so it is only for adults aged 18 and over, and it only appears when it is open in your lobby. You need a complete profile and enough cash or usable bonus for the stake.

How a game works

  1. Open the lobby and choose Challenge the House.
  2. Pick your table size: 2 seats (you against the House bot), or 3 or 4 seats (you and other players against the House bot), where offered.
  3. Pick your stake. The allowed range is shown, and the payout if you win is shown before you confirm.
  4. Confirm. Your stake is held. A 2-seat table starts at once; a bigger table waits for other players to join.
  5. Play by the normal classic-1 rules. The match ends when the first player brings all four tokens home.

What it pays

A win pays your stake times the published multiplier, with your stake included and no other fee. A loss loses your stake. At a table with other players, the first human to finish wins the multiplier on their own stake; everyone else at the table loses theirs, and if the House bot finishes first, the house keeps every stake.

The multipliers come from a simple published formula: multiplier = (1 - house edge) x seats in play. With the current house edge of 15 %, that gives 1.7x at a 2-seat table, 2.55x at a 3-seat table and 3.4x at a 4-seat table. These numbers are set by us and can change, so always check the multiplier and payout shown on the screen before you confirm.

Tip
Example at the current 2-seat multiplier of 1.7x: stake UGX 2,000, a win pays UGX 3,400 (UGX 1,400 profit). A loss loses the UGX 2,000.

Why the house keeps a share

If you and the House bot were exactly equal, you would each win half of 2-seat games over time. A fair payout for that would be 2x. The house pays 1.7x instead, and that difference is the house edge. It is how we earn from this mode, and it is built into the published multiplier rather than hidden in the dice. Dice and outcomes are never adjusted.

What this means for you: over many games, the house keeps a share of the stakes. You may win a session, even several, but nobody can guarantee a win, and over the long run you should expect to lose a little of what you stake. Treat it as paid entertainment, not as income.

Multi-player House tables

  • Every human at the table stakes the same amount.
  • You can join an open public table with the stake you want, create a new one, or keep it private and invite friends.
  • The host can start early with 'Start now' after a short wait. The multiplier is then recalculated for the seats actually in play and shown before the start.
  • A waiting table that never fills expires and every stake is refunded. If the host leaves before the start, the table closes and everyone is refunded.
  • A player who resigns or forfeits loses their stake; the game goes on for the rest.

A worked example at a 3-seat table

Say you and a friend sit at a 3-seat House table, each staking UGX 2,000, with Arena House (Bot) in the third seat. At the current 3-seat multiplier of 2.55x, the payout shown before you confirm is UGX 5,100 for whoever wins. Three things can happen:

  • You finish first: you receive UGX 5,100 and your friend loses their UGX 2,000.
  • Your friend finishes first: they receive UGX 5,100 and you lose your UGX 2,000.
  • The House bot finishes first: both stakes stay with the house.

Notice that you are not playing as a team. You and your friend are rivals too, and each of you can capture the other's tokens. The bot is just one more opponent on the board, playing by the same rules and the same dice.

Limits that protect you

  • A stake range per game, shown when you choose your stake.
  • A daily cap on your total House stakes per Kampala day. The app shows how much you have left today.
  • Your own loss and deposit limits from Wallet, Limits. A stake that would take you past your loss limit is refused.
  • Session reminders, time-outs and self-exclusion, which block House tables completely while active.

Occasionally a game may be refused because the house has reached its own daily limit. Nothing is taken from you in that case; try a smaller stake or come back later.

Fair dice at House tables

The House bot rolls the same server dice as you. With provably fair dice, every roll of the match, the bot's included, is fixed before the first roll and can be recomputed after the match on our dice verifier page. There is no admin tool that sets dice or outcomes. The bot chooses its moves from the current board only.

Challenge the House is quick: no waiting for an opponent, a known payout and a game in a few minutes. If you prefer playing people, try Play another player, where we take only a disclosed platform fee from the pot and never play against you. If you want no money involved at all, Practice vs Bots and Quick Match for tokens are always free.

Tip
18+ only. Set a budget before you start, stop when you reach it, and never chase losses. If it stops being fun, take a time-out from Wallet, Limits.

Questions and answers

Am I playing against a real person in Challenge the House?

No. You play the clearly labelled House bot, Arena House (Bot). At 3 and 4-seat tables other real players join you against the bot.

How much does a win pay?

Your stake times the multiplier shown before you confirm, with no other fee. With the current 15 % house edge that is 1.7x at 2 seats, 2.55x at 3 seats and 3.4x at 4 seats.

Are the dice fair against the House bot?

Yes. The bot uses the same server dice as you, every roll can be verified after the match, and outcomes are never adjusted. The house earns through the published multiplier.

Can I lose more than my stake?

No. A loss costs your stake for that game and nothing more.

Is there a limit on how much I can stake?

Yes. There is a stake range per game, a daily cap per player, and your own deposit and loss limits.
